BizCom Instruction: An Essential Link for Student Careers

Employers expect new graduates to possess interpersonal skills such as problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking, which they assume graduates have learned in college. Yet when surveyed, hirers report that at least half of the grads they see do not possess these abilities.

In direct conflict with this finding, surveys of college administrators indicate that they believe their institutions do a good job of preparing their students for the workforce. Obviously, both parties cannot be correct.

To add to the situation, students are on another page entirely. Rather than focusing on skills, they want a career that offers growth and fulfillment and aren’t in any hurry to scale an organizational ladder that doesn’t meet those expectations.
