Employers expect graduates to possess key skills for the workplace to demonstrate that they are “career ready.”
But just what does that mean? The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) defines career readiness as “the attainment and demonstration of requisite competencies that broadly prepare college graduates for a successful transition into the workplace.”
These competencies are:
- Critical Thinking/Problem Solving
- Oral/Written Communication
- Teamwork/Collaboration
- Information Technology Application
- Leadership
- Professionalism/Work Ethic
- Career Management
NACE has prepared definitions and explanations of these core competencies. Download the Career Readiness Fact sheet to share with your students here.
